Soccer Saturday number 2 Fall 2011

Rain or shine the boys will play soccer and yesterday was a great example of that. The rain actually stopped, but it was cold. It seemed as thought Columbus was the only place in the nation that was cold. Out west it was in the 90's, but here it was in the 50's. Anyway, both the boys played great. Peyton was great about running around the field. He looked like he was having a blast. He somehow managed to score a couple goals. His team is pretty stacked as far as 4 and 5 year old kids are concerned. I think the final score was around 14 to 0; similar to last week. Porter's game was a lot more competitive. He was amazing. He literally dribbled the ball the complete length of the field, in and out of multiple defenders a couple times. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to score a goal. One time his teammate kicked it about the same time as he did, after he had dribbled through a couple defenders and score the goal. The other teams goalie was actually really good. Porter was pretty upset at first that he wasn't able to score a goal. He got over it and I think he's pretty determined to try even harder next time. We remind them that the only thing that is important, at least the two rule of our family, to do your best and have fun doing it. Anyway, here a couple pictures from their games.

This shows how much fun it is to play defense on Porter's team because their offense is so good.

Lego Master Preparation

Peyton wanted to build a Lego Robot as one of the Lego Club Jr building challenges. As we were trying to figure out what a robot might look like, Porter had the great idea to build a huge pyramid. We were surprised that we actually had enough Legos build such a structure. Pretty fun!

1st day of school

Porter had his first day of school about a week and a half ago. He is in 2nd grade now! I can hardly believe it. So far he loves it...let's hope that enthusiasm lasts!

16 mile bike ride = sore bumb

The scouts are working on the cycling merit badge. Multiple long cycling trips are required to complete the merit badge. This week we road the Heritage Trail (rails for trails). It ended up being about 16 miles. The young men did great. It was a pretty ride. Nice and cool. We must have been pretty recognizable due to one lady immediately asking us what ward we were in. Then she pointed out one of the boys had on a BYU shirt.

Haden Falls

Erin came home the other day excited to tell me that she had noticed a sign near our house that said "Haden Falls." It'sonly about 2 miles from our house and those of you who don't know where we live... we live in Columbus, Ohio and pretty much in the middle of the large city. So, today we decided to see this "waterfall" in the middle of the city. Sure enough after a short walk from a small parking-lot next to a busy road along a nice wooden path there was the waterfall.

Morning Crafts in the Dental Lab w/Dad

Porter got up really early and came into the lab with me. We had some fun. Porter watched Harry Potter and I worked on dental lab work. As we were there I had an idea and the pictures below show the results of our combined efforts accomplishing the idea. Not too bad for a first try. Basically our own version of Mighty Beanz.
